We played an "Egg-cellent" Memory Match game today with our spelling words. Ask your child about it!
Boy, did we work hard today! We learned more about and practiced the "What's My Rule?" routine in math, we read several stories that involved classifying or categorizing, we worked on our "How To" flip books, and we worked as teams to do some more animal research!
We are going back to the bucket metaphor that we learned about at the beginning of the school year.... If you see that someone's bucket has tipped (they are not doing well emotionally), what can you do to help fill their bucket? We brainstormed lots of ways to fill buckets today. Ask your child about it!
We reached our dojo goal!!!! So tomorrow we will have some indoor recess time and a movie about wild animals of North America! Yay!
There were lots of silly socks at school today! Thank you for the participation in World Down Syndrome Day.
Today we learned about attributes in math. We learned to use the attributes of shape, color, and size to describe objects. We presented some awesome animal reports too. They are now proudly displayed on our bulletin board. This afternoon we read our animals reports to our 5th grade buddies. Some students also got to make slime! The students who did not make slime today will get a chance during our buddy time next week .
Tomorrow is World Down Syndrome Day. We would like to raise awareness and show support for the Down Syndrome community by participating in Funky Sock Day. Students are encouraged to wear funky and/or miss-matched socks to show their support!
We did a fun science activity this afternoon! We learned about camouflage by searching for moths in trees in our classroom. Ask your child about it!
We had a great day! We learned about using fact triangles to practice math facts, we visited with service dogs in training, we played word games and took our spelling test, we painted with watercolors, and we made houses for leprechauns!!!
Enjoy the weekend!
We have a special visit with a guide dog-in-training happening tomorrow morning! If you have not sent in the permission slip for this cool opportunity, please do so tomorrow! Thank you!
Another short day... we read about insects, sorted spelling words, started some animal reports, and spent time with our 5th grade buddies.
Next week we will start learning about service animals, and we have an opportunity to meet 2 puppies training to be service dogs. A permission slip was sent home last week for this exciting activity. Please send it in tomorrow if you have not already. Thank you!!
We had a math assessment this morning, we learned some new high frequency words, and we were introduced to our trickiest spelling words yet! This afternoon, students learned a new song in music class and learned how to paint a watercolor rainbow! NO SCHOOL TOMORROW! Enjoy the day!
It was a cozy day today, reading in our PJs! Thank you to everyone who donated money for our Read-A-Thon!!
We squeezed in a lot of learning during this short, early-release day! Tomorrow is our Read-A-Thon, if we have school. Students may wear PJs or any warm, cozy clothes.
Stay safe and enjoy the winter wonderland!
We visited the Book Fair today! Your child wrote down the names and prices of a few books that he or she is interested in. If you would like to purchase books, you may send money in with your child or come on in to school to shop. We have a Read-A-Thon scheduled for Thursday. Your child may wear PJs that day! If school is cancelled on Thursday, our Read-A-Thon will be Friday instead. Please send in any donations that you have collected .
Today we welcomed a new student, Elizabeth, to our class! We reviewed school rules and started earning "paws" stickers for safe, respectful, and responsible behavior. We read a story called Swimmy, in which the fish swim together to stay safe. Check your child's folder for the weekly Wonders letter!
