I was so proud of the excellent student behavior as we sat through a 2 hour Award Ceremony this morning! Congratulations to our young author winner, Peyton!
Students played "Gaga" in gym class this afternoon... Ask your child about it! We made it through a hot, hot day! We started putting together first grade portfolios! The students can't wait to show you!
Today we performed Reader's Theater skits about oviparous animals! The students did an excellent job using expression as they read their parts aloud.
What a wonderful Field Day we had! Thank you to all of the parent volunteers! Ask your child about his or her favorite activity!
Tomorrow is Field Day! Please make sure your child is dressed properly for fun in the sun! Also, make sure your child has a water bottle. Thank you!!!
We have so much "egg"citement in our classroom! Our eggs are starting to "pip" so we are watching closely and eagerly awaiting hatch day. Today we had a BLAST reading in the sunshine with the whole school! We even had some community members join our class for this event - Mr. Sindoni from the Recreation Department and Officer Ruggierio from the Police Department!
Today we started making a class memory quilt! We also candled the eggs again, and we are very excited to see some hatching next week.
Monday is our reading challenge celebration! Please send in anything your child needs to be outside reading for a half hour (towel for sitting, sunglasses, favorite book, water bottle, etc). Thank you! Today we heard all about the summer reading program at the town library. Information was sent home in your child's folder.
We are busy celebrating summer birthdays! If your child has a summer birthday, expect an awesome birthday book to come home this week or next!
We candled our eggs again today, and the chicks are big and strong inside!! We have 8 more days to go before they hatch. Ask your child about tthe chicken life cycle!
On Monday New Boston Central School will be celebrating our Reading Challenge success! In a combined effort, over the last 12 weeks, our school has read 7,939 books and 34,340,136 words!
The entire school will be walking down to the softball fields by the white buildings to celebrate our reading accomplishment. Classes will be reading with their reading buddies from 1:10 - 1:45 in the afternoon (in their designated area). PLEASE send in a few items to make the afternoon fun for your child and his/her reading buddy. Top on the list would be blankets and towels to lounge on while they read. Also, if it is a sunny day, please send in hats, sunglasses, and even umbrellas that can be propped up on their blankets, allowing them to read in some shade. We would like to thank the P.T.A. for sponsoring this event and supplying a keepsake prize for all of the students who joined in on the challenge! We dream…. We wish…. We believe… We READ! We are New Boston! |
