We are working on fixing mistakes! We have learned that making a mistake can be a good thing - it can give you the opportunity to learn from your mistake. With our 5th grade buddies, we are doing a project called "Flip that Flop!" Today students thought of a mistake, or flop, that has happened in their lives. Ask your child about it! How could they fix their flop?

Today we said goodbye to the last of our butterflies! We became experts on the butterfly life cycle. Time to move onto a new science theme... apples! We will be learning about harvest time and the life cycles of apples and pumpkins. Big thanks to Liam for sharing some fresh-picked delicious apples with our class!
Today we read Rufus Goes to School and made connections to the story. We also started some Very Hungry Caterpillar storytelling performances! Happy October! I can't believe we have 3 weeks of school under our belts already! Today we started Unit 1 of our Wonders literacy program. We will have an "Essential Question" each week that will guide all of the reading and writing activities for that week, and this week's question is "What do you do at your school?" We have all become experts on this subject! We will have lots of background knowledge to help us comprehend stories and write about our school days. Today in math we learned a game called Rolling for 50. It is a game that helps students practice navigating a number grid. Your student brought home a game board and directions so you can try it out at home!
Also - Our Painted Lady Butterflies hatched today!!! Some students were even lucky enough to see a hatch in progress! They are so beautiful! We released them to the garden and watched them fly! |
