We had a very fun day! It started with knitting. Each student received his or her very own knitting spool, and everyone got started on their knitting adventure! Knitting is a great activity to strengthen little fingers and help us practice measuring, but it's also just a nice, peaceful choice when there is free time in the classroom. We also started the playground challenge today. Did your child earn a coin at recess?? And this afternoon we started a new science unit about the sun, moon, and stars. In our first few lessons we will be learning about the sun, in particular how its place changes in the sky throughout the day. In today's lesson, your child observed the surprising fact that the shadow of a stationary object moves, even though the object itself is not moving! We learned that this is because of how the sun’s place is changing in the sky.
