About Garden Club:
New Boston Central School includes students in the planning, maintenance, and enjoyment of the various gardens at our school. We invite 5th and 6th grade students to join our after school garden club!
We meet every Tuesday (weather permitting), from 2:30 to 3:30, during the fall and spring months.
Students who sign up should meet in Mrs. Willard’s room after being dismissed from their classrooms. Bring a snack and drink if you’d like – there will be a 10-15 minute window of snacking time before our meeting officially begins. Wear closed-toe shoes for safety and dress in or bring clothing that is appropriate for “dirty jobs” on garden club days. Parents will be expected to pick their children up at the front of the school at 3:30.
In addition to getting a little fresh air and exercise, students will learn information about composting, feeding soil, planning gardens, maintaining gardens, and harvesting. We will also occasionally create garden related projects and crafts. Ultimately, we hope to develop a sense of stewardship, as students will be caring for the earth around their school.
