Wonders
READ: Find your reading group book in the READ section.
The book is titled: What is a Yurt?
Yurt is a pretty fun word to say, and you’ll also find out what it IS!
Try to read the book without having it read to you. At the end of the book, have an adult read the questions to you. Answer the questions by speaking clearly! Be sure to be detailed.
Then, read the PAIRED Read. This is the text that is found in the same book.
Have a conversation with an adult about how the two texts are alike and how they are different.
SPELLING/DECODING/HIGH FREQUENCY WORDS: Practice the words for the week!
TO DO: By Friday, May 8th please go to your Wonders and find your “TO DO” list. (Green Bubble, clipboard, it will have a number on it) This is the same spot where you find Book Box Reading Practice. Please complete the following games Cause and Effect, High Frequency Words, and Phonics. After you complete the games, you can write a note to me, and don’t forget to click the SUBMIT button!
TO DO: I Spy a Mystery Word You can do this on SEESAW, or use the file below.

Science
Yesterday you read about bridges. Today you have a STEM challenge…
To Do: Build an animal bridge! Due on Friday, May 8th.
See directions below, and then share your work on Seesaw!
Animals sometimes have trouble crossing things safely. Humans can help by building animal bridges! Pretend some animals need to be able to cross a stream, road, or big hole in the ground. Use blocks, boxes, sticks, or any other building materials you have to build a bridge to help the animals. You may create your bridge indoors or outdoors. If you are outside, can you build your bridge using all materials from nature??
Everyday Math
Lesson 8-6
Today’s Skill: Identify defining attributes of 3-D shapes.
Note to parents: In first grade, we begin using formal names for 3-D shapes, such as sphere, cylinder, and rectangular prism, but do not expect your children to use these names consistently. This vocabulary will take repeated exposure for students to master.

Go to Lesson 8-6: Click on boxes 3 (Pictures of 3-D Shapes - notice their attributes), 7 (Math Boxes), 8 (*Home Link)
*You can always print the Home Link if you'd rather work with a hard copy. Go to "EM at Home" (brown house) and click on "Today's Home Link."
