READ: Now What’s That Sound? Click on the book Now, What’s That Sound?. Before you read, click on the arrow on the left side of the screen to check out the Phonics/Fluency pages (178-79). Click on the speakers to listen to information about the spelling patterns. Look for words with these patterns as you read Now, What’s That Sound?. You can listen to it being read, or try reading it independently.

Lesson 8-1
Today’s Skill: Building Shapes with Defining Attributes. Constructing 2-dimensional shapes and identifying defining and nondefining attributes of those shapes.
Go to Lesson 8-1 and click on Boxes: 2 (discuss the Math Message with someone at home), 3 (compare the Polygons and Nonpolygons), 4 (Practicing Fact Families), and 5 (Math Boxes)
My Reference Book: Go to pages 122-129 for more information about 2-dimensional shapes.
Geometer’s Sketchpad: page 124 (Polygons)
To Do in Seesaw - Create 2D Shapes:
Create at least one polygon shape using any items you have at home. (Pencils, straws, pipe cleaners, rubber bands...) Have fun, and be sure to upload a picture or two of your creations to SEESAW.
Play I Spy with someone at your house!

- Directions: Sit or stand outside or inside. Be silent and keep your eyes closed for a minute. Listen carefully to the sounds around you. Write at least four sentences that begin with the words "I heard..."

Play I Spy with someone at your house!
Directions:
- Take turns being the spy.
- When you are the spy, look for a shape in the room. Don’t tell anyone the name of the shape. Say, “I spy with my little eye a shape with…” Then give clues that describe your shape. Be sure to use defining attributes!
- Other players guess which shape you spied.
- Have fun!
