My name is Mrs. Willard, and I will be your child’s first grade teacher! I love teaching first grade. It is a magical year, full of major growth and discovery. First grade students learn how to read for information and pleasure, have fun manipulating numbers, work together with teachers and peers to make sense of the world around them, and solve problems creatively. During first grade, students gain independence and confidence that will help with their learning for years to come.
We are beginning the most unique school year in recent history, which makes it essential that we communicate often and work as a team to help your child be the best learner he or she can be. Check my website often for updates and information. Please do not hesitate to reach out and ask questions along the way!
No one knows your child better than you do. The more I know and understand about your child, the more effective I can be as a teacher. Sometime in the next week, please send me an email introducing your child. You might want to include a brief biography, interests, fears, strengths, weaknesses, transportation/child care plans, and how remote learning went for your child. Include any information that you want me to keep in mind while I work with your child. All messages will be kept confidential. Thank you for taking part in this important assignment. I am looking forward to reading about your children and to meeting all of you.
I would love to "meet" you before school begins! Once I receive your email, I will contact you to set up a zoom meeting. During this zoom meeting with you and your child, I can introduce myself, show you our classroom, and answer any questions you may have.
Together, we will help your child develop a love of learning!
Sincerely,
Jess Willard
