We recognized first day of Fall (or Autumn) on Tuesday the 22nd, and we read the story by New Boston's own Marty Kelly called Fall is Not Easy. We created some funny tree pictures, inspired by the book, using Q-tips and watercolors. It was fun! We also stripped some crayons naked, collected leaves outside, and then did beautiful leaf rubbings.
We also observed our painted lady caterpillars this week. They were all getting FAT, and most of them started forming a chrysalis!!!
Students have 10 more sight words that were introduced this week. Please practice these sight words at home! Sight words are tricky; they are often rule-breakers that cannot be easily sounded out, so we need to memorize them. It will take most students many many many exposures to these words to memorize them, so be patient with your child. One of my favorite ways to practice the words is to make 2 cards for each word and then play memory match with the word cards.
Thank you so much for all that you are doing at home to help your child learn and grow!
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
