We learned about Veteran's Day through magazines, texts, and articles, but by far the most valuable resource we had was Mrs. Louis. She is the mom of one of the Friendly Foxes, and she shared her experience as an army helicopter pilot with us via zoom. Thank you so much, Mrs. Louis, for a fantastic presentation. Thank you, veterans, for your service.
For Wild Wednesday last week, we went hiking on the trails behind the school. Each student was given a stick with some elastics around it to use as a "journey stick." Students could stop along the journey and collect items to add to their sticks. Hopefully your child used his or her stick to retell the story of our journey for you!
This week we are learning about how people help out in their communities. We will be cleaning up the playground and some of the trails to help our school community. We will be doing a lot of word work this week to practice using the digraphs TH, SH, and -NG. We are starting a new math unit too, focusing on measurement and addition strategies.
Next week is a short one! We will spend our 2 1/2 days of school doing Thanksgiving-related projects and activities.
I am thankful to have such fantastic first grade families!!! 🥰
