Your assignments have been posted. Today I am encouraging students to help out at home by doing some organizing. This week your children have been reading and thinking about how to classify and categorize things. These are fancy names for sorting! Perhaps on this rainy day, your child can help organize something in your home by looking at characteristics and grouping things together. Books can be sorted by genre, topic, or reading level. Crayons could be sorted by color or size. How could toys be organized? Or clothing? Encourage your child to come up with his or her own way to sort things!
Also today there is a Scholastic News magazine assignment called Mo Doesn't Give Up! Author Mo Willems shares about his growth mindset, as it pertains to his writing. Talk with your child about his or her mindset! When work gets tricky, students should take Mo's advice:
1) Take your time,
2) Know that mistakes are OK,
3) Don't give up, and
4) Believe in yourself!
