Your children were delighted to see some changes in our classroom for the new year. Each child now has a scoop seat as a seating option! They are so cool! Also, every Smarty Spider has learned how to knit! We are using knitting spools, and students can cozy up in their scoop seats and knit if they have finished their work. It's such a calming activity, and great fine-motor exercise for those little fingers!
I wanted to let everyone know that the first grade team has decided to slow down the pace a bit. We will take a full two weeks to cover one week of our Wonders program until further notice. This will enable us to achieve more mastery of the material so students can read with confidence by the end of first grade! Each week, students are introduced to more sight words and more spelling patterns, and we believe that our students will benefit greatly from spending some more time practicing each skill. As always, please reach out if you have any questions or concerns!
A few reminders... We go outside EVERY DAY. Please make sure your child has the proper gear to stay warm when playing in the snow. Also, please be sure to send in a reusable water bottle every day, so that your child can stay hydrated! THANK YOU!!!
