I hope you are all well! Last week was a long one - I found that the kids were done by Thursday. We are building our stamina and trying our best to make the most of our days here at school. We are working on showing respect and patience with our teachers and friends and keeping our hands to ourselves. We had fun playing new math games and writing letters to our friends. For Wild Wednesday we read the book Leaf Man by Louis Ehlert and then collected leaves and other natural materials to create nature collages inspired by the story. On Friday we attended Michaelmas, which can be quite overwhelming and confusing for many first graders, but I was proud of how well the Friendly Foxes did!
Today was a great day for the Friendly Foxes! Our behavior was respectful and responsible, and we had lots of fun. We skipped a spelling test today. (We will go back to the blends and double-consonant-endings later in the school year.) We danced to our new favorite song - Believer - a few times. We explored with dominoes, played a math game called BUMP, and started a new class book inspired by the book Ten Apples Up On Top. For science, we observed how worms move! Ask your child about it!
This week we learned about diagrams too, so we did some tracing and labeling of our bodies outside on the blacktop. We loved planting bulbs on Wild Wednesday, and we enjoyed the Fire Safety presentation. Be sure to check out Seesaw for pictures of our adventures!
