Thank you also to everyone who came out to our Back-to-School night on Monday. I sent home a copy of my presentation, but please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. I will be sending out a signup genius invite for conferences sometime in October.
We have begun our Wonders literacy program, focusing this week on the short a sound, 4 new high frequency words, and finding key details in the stories we read. Each week, I will send home a letter on Monday outlining the literacy skills we are working on that week. Included in the letter are suggestions for working with your child at home. They are suggestions only. If you find time to play word games at home to help your child practice, that's great. I suggest that you read with your child every day too, for at least 15 minutes. Whether you read or your child does, this is valuable time spent together. Aside from that, your child's homework each day is to play outside, have some dinner, and get to bed early!
We had such a fun week, playing math games, creating a class flag, making a funny Willoughby Wallaby class book, reading "Fall is Not Easy" by Marty Kelly and painting fall trees like his... we even had fun taking our spelling test today! 😉
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
