This is the last week of review before we jump into the meat of our Wonders literacy program. We will work on the rest of the letter sounds this week, plus ten more sight words. Please have your child practice those sight words! Listen as your child reads the paper books that were sent home too!
We started writing in our journals this week. Look for your child's first journal entry on Seesaw! We also continued to observe the chrysalides of our painted lady caterpillars, and we hope to see them hatch into butterflies soon!!!
Some special notes went home this week... One is instructions for logging into your child's McGraw Hill ConnectED account. Check it out, give it a try, and let me know if you have any questions or issues.
The other note is about the Zones of Regulation program that we are using. There is some helpful language on the back of the page that your child will be using here at school when we work on regulating our emotions.
Our school librarian, Mrs. Charles, delivered 5 books for each child this week. Your student has a special bag with the 5 books, plus a paper that your child can use to tell Mrs. Charles what types of books he or she would like for the next round. Students can keep the books at home for 3 weeks. I will send out an email to let parents know when the books (and paper) are expected to be returned. Enjoy the books and take good care of them!
Also... Students brought home their big, red Your Turn Practice Books. These Wonders workbooks contain all of the worksheets we've been using to practice letters. PLEASE keep this workbook in a safe place and plan on having it handy for your child on remote work days. PLEASE do not allow your child to go ahead in the book - only work on pages that are assigned. Thank you!!
With a new month comes a new Integrated Arts class, or "Special." Students will have ART on Mondays and Tuesdays for the next four weeks instead of gym. In November we will move to music.
Happy October!
